This guide is general information only. Claims must be connected to earning your income, not reimbursed, and supported by records where required.
Uniforms, protective clothing and laundry
Paramedics may be able to claim compulsory uniforms, protective clothing and laundry costs where the clothing is distinctive, occupation-specific or protective and used for work.
Medical equipment, safety gear and work tools
Eligible items can include protective gloves, safety glasses, trauma shears, torches, first aid equipment, stationery, reference materials and other work equipment used in your ambulance or patient transport role.
Training, licences and professional development
CPD, first aid updates, clinical courses, conferences and licence renewals may be deductible when they maintain or improve skills used in your current role.
Phone, internet and work administration
If you use your own phone or internet for rosters, employer systems, training modules or work calls, keep a usage record and claim only the work-related portion.
Travel between work locations
Travel between ambulance branches, hospitals, training sites or patient transport locations during the same workday may be deductible in some circumstances. Ordinary home-to-work travel is usually private.

- Employer-reimbursed costs.
- Private meals, grooming or fitness expenses.
- Fines or penalties.
